Multi-state model design of the migraine preventive therapy. To create the model, it was assumed that patients in any line of treatment could maintain it, discontinue it or switch medications, which generated four possible states and five different transitions. Treatment switching was defined by any change of medication within 60 days from the last prescription, while treatment discontinuation may have been due to reinitiation after 60 days or more without renovating it or direct mediation dropout
