A) Acute sleep deprivation in rats: 6 h controls and 12 h controls were pooled for statistical analysis, as no significant difference was found between the two control groups; B) Chronic sleep deprivation in VLPO-lesioned rats. Control animals underwent a sham procedure with saline injection into their VLPO
